F3 Sign of Self-Defense

“I think I’m starting to get the hang of this?” I told Jack.
            “Hang of what?”
“Refining my control. Check it out.” I made a peace sign with two fingers, then touched them to the alligator-style clips on the counter. I sent out a surge of electricity. At the other end of the clips, the ammeter registered three milliamps.
“Not bad. So you can send a tiny current through your fingers. So what?” Jack never impressed easily.
“Simple. I’m packing my own stun gun. This gizmo can’t track it, but I’m sending out at three hundred thousand volts. I’m packing my own stun gun.”
“I’m happy for you. What you want to go zap a puppy or something?”
“What? No! What’s wrong with you? I just wanted a way to defend myself.”
“Reilly, you can shoot out lightning bolts. You’re making a stun gun when you’ve got the ultimate Taser. Now, you want control, crank that down to half a milliamp, down the voltage, and you’ve got an electric joy buzzer. Classic prank.”
Jack’s grin told me he used that prank. A lot.
