Superheroes
collect souvenirs from their adventures. The Batcave, the Fortress of Solitude,
Avengers Mansion, and the Baxter Building all are filled with various trophies
from their adventures. They’re on display and serve as reminders of their
triumphs and defeats (few of those). But me, I get stuck with a collection of
stuff I don’t know what it does.
All of it magical in some way, and any one of them could turn out to be a doomsday device. And unlike comics or movies, doomsday devices are more complicated than ripping out a few wires.

Smashing
any of these objects might just cause it to go off, or maybe not. Maybe it
would just change what it does, which could be even more disastrous. Too bad there isn’t a way to fire this stuff
into space.
I
looked at the bowl, which looked like paper-thin glass. It was blown glass, if
it really was glass, and had a swirling pattern in it that reminded me of a
whirlpool. Or a black hole. Maybe firing
this into space would be a bad idea.
