F3 Masquerade

I hated Halloween. Everything supernatural in the world would be out and about high on the extra power the day gave them. If I had any brains—which it was clear, I didn’t—I would be locked in my house behind consecration and armed to the teeth with silver and holy water.
Instead, I was at a big, fancy ball with Nikki on my arm. It was a masquerade, and many opted for the traditional Venetian dress with big period gowns and ornate masks tied on with ribbons. Others opted for the modern take to dress up in costumes of another sort.
I dressed, well, like a PI, which was fitting for me. I had a trench coat, fedora, and a candy cigar hanging out of my mouth. I also had an oversized, cartoonish revolver on my hip. The gun gave my identity away as Eddie Valiant from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Nikki made it easy for everyone to guess my identity as she dressed, to the nines, like Jessica Rabbit in that sequined red gown. She had even made a point of putting a big kiss on my cheek in red lipstick, marking her territory.
Okay, maybe it’s not all bad, I thought as Nikki pressed her hip against mine.
