F3 Ballroom Blitz

Karaoke Night at the Blackthorn was something I had never, ever participated in. In fact I had a standing policy never to participate in Karaoke, so how I found myself up at the microphone was something of a mystery, but at least Nikki let me pick the song.
The DJ pointed to me as he began the track, and the words popped up on the screen in front of us.
I started, “Oh it's been getting so hard / Living with the things you do to me / My dreams are getting so strange / I'd like to tell you everything I see.”
My voice was pretty lousy, and the lyrics to “Ballroom Blitz” came out more as spoken than singing, but Nikki picked it up with a silken voice.
“Oh, I see a man at the back as a matter of fact / His eyes are as red as the sun.”
Then it was back to me. “And the girl in the corner let no one ignore her / Cause she thinks she's the passionate one.”
From there we picked it up together, her hip pressed tightly to mine, the red minidress leaving little to the imagination.
And I caught the twinkle in her eyes and smile as we moved into the chorus.
The entire club erupted into a ballroom blitz as we continued to sing, and I had to wonder if—by Nikki’s look—a blitz might take place in a different room after we finished.
