What's Old is New Again

Over last summer, I got a ton of writing and other work done, but I didn’t have a whole lot to show for it. I wasn’t writing one of my fiction books. I was working on mythology posts and flash fiction for here, and working on a proposal for a mythology book. So it felt like my summer was wasted time, but after I started totaling up the words written, did I realize that I had a very productive summer.
And then I promptly forgot as the semester started.
NaNoWriMo rolled around, and I had the push for the book, and was tracking my progress again. I had previously tracked my writing progress via Google Docs spreadsheet, and would do a year-in-review by posting it up. I gave up because school and health, and it felt like a reminder of how much I was spinning my wheels. By the time things had calmed down, I felt like I didn’t need it anymore, or at least I didn’t want to be hassled by it.
But now, after the summer and NaNo, I’ve got a new reason for it. It shows me how productive I actually am. And as I am branching out into writing articles—hopefully I will be able to do this more and more—I want to keep track of all my progress.
Long story made a tiny bit longer, I’m bringing the spreadsheet back. I’m thinking of adding a page on here so people can see my progress. I think the public accountability might be a good idea.
