Sonia’s question could be taken different ways. I had seen my share of noir movies with plenty of innuendo, so I could guess at some of what Sonia hinted at. At the same time, it wouldn’t be in bad taste to just say outright.
“Choose out a nice, red wine, but not too old. She likes it sweet. She also doesn’t want to wait too long. The wine should be ready by the time her business is concluded.”
“I shall decant it straight away,” she smiled. “Anything else?”
While I was a bit hungry, I thought better about it. I had no idea what we’d have to do after she got done with those people. Plus, I didn’t want to be hanging around, waiting in case the kitchen was slow. But I did need something else.
“Yes. I need to get her a gift.”
“Of course. There are a number of shops nearby. Clothing, jewelry, antiques?”
“Any of those, but I don’t think I’ll have time to go peruse them myself.”
“We can send—”
I shook my head, cutting her off. “I would need to see them. Wasn’t there a shop here, at some point? Even something from the Club might do if it was the right thing.”
“I’m not aware of any shop in the club. Though many items are branded, I believe these are simply provided.”
“Well, that might work, can I look at what’s available?
She shrugged, offering to lead me there.
“Lead on,” I smiled.
